Aquamarine

Aquamarine is the birthstone of March and the gem of 19th anniversaries. It has a hardness of 7.5-8 on the Mohs scale and comes from the Latin word seawater.

Its distinctive blue-green colour depends on the amount of iron found in the individual structure of the gem, creating a broad colour range from pale, crystal blue to deep teal. This stone is commonly found in Brazil and is a part of the beryl family, alongside emeralds. Our aquamarines are sourced typically from O'Brien's creek near Mt Surprise in Queensland.
